Azura Memory Care believes that in addition to receiving exceptional care, it is also important for those living with dementia to be as engaged in their environment as possible and to feel a sense of purpose. As part of our MOSAIC engagement programming, many of our Azura homes have what is called a ‘Give Back Group’ which works to not only benefit the surrounding community, but also our residents in knowing they are helping to make a difference and bringing a smile to someone in their community. And in this particular case, to children in a different part of the world.
The Azura Memory Care of Wausau resident Give Back Group was proud to wrap up their month-long ‘Give Back Group’ project of creating 30 handmade, pillowcase dresses that were given to local Wausau nurses to be distributed to children in Haiti on an upcoming mission trip.
Team Members, family members and volunteers helped gather the pillowcase donations and assisted our residents in choosing the patterns, cutting and hemming the dresses. Each dress was then finished with a hand-sewn heart button from each of the residents that participated. EXCEPTIONAL!
