Florence M. Joy, age 95 of Beloit died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Azura Memory Care in Beloit. She was born May 13, 1917 in Beloit, WI the daughter of Howard and Martha (Oldenburg) Needham. She married Donald Joy on February 25, 1944 in Whitewater, WI. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1991. She was a graduate of Beloit High School, class of 1935. Florence worked as a secretary at Warner Electric, retiring in 1968. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Florence especially enjoyed growing gladiolas with her husband, Don and selling them to the area florists.
Florence is survived by her two brothers, Donald Needham, Lemon Grove, CA and Dean (Estelle) Needham, Appleton, WI, one step daughter-in-law, Violet Joy, Muskego, WI; five step grandchildren, one step great grandchild; great, 2nd great and 3rd great nieces and nephews and her special niece Barbara Finnegan, Beloit, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald Joy, her sister Jean Olenik, sister-in-law Margie Needham and two stepsons, Harold and William (Lillian) Joy.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Azura Memory Care for all the love and care they gave Florence.
Florence’s Funeral Service will be 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at THE RIVER of LIFE METHODIST CHURCH, 402 Church Street, Clinton, WI with Rev. David Carlson officiating. Friends will be received Sunday at Church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. A memorial is being established in her name for Azura Memory Care of Beloit. Inurnment is planned for Monday May 13th in the Shirland Cemetery, Shirland, IL.
