You never know when you might meet someone who will change your life. For the Quality of Life Coordinator at Azura Memory Care of Beloit, a chance encounter at a local fall festival enhanced the lives of her residents and some local Boy Scouts. She saw the scouts in uniform at fall festival in the Beloit area and struck up a conversation with their father who turned out to be an influential member of the local Boy Scout Troop. The Scouts have come to the Beloit house on several occasions to read to the residents and engage them in various activities.
Recently staff worked with the scouts to build birdhouses with all the residents. The residents really enjoyed themselves and were extremely proud of their creations. The scouts were able to earn badges, and the Beloit house now has beautiful bird houses to hang outside. The residents will enjoy watching the birds for years to come, and the Boy Scouts will cherish their service to the community.
The Quality of Life Coordinator showed tremendous INNOVATION in creating a relationship with the local Boy Scout troop and in providing many opportunities for MOSAIC Moments.
