What would your best day be? For one Azura Memory Care resident, it was “to go to an ice skating show.” To some, this may have been no surprise because this was something she loved to do with her family long before her diagnosis.
Deemed an ice-skating aficionado, she would always tune-in to watch the figure skaters during the Olympics; mesmerized by their movements, sparkling costumes, and level of poise.
While a big fan of the sport, she had always dreamed of becoming an ice skater. Through our MOSAIC Dreams program and with the help of the Mosinee Silverblades Figure Skating Club, we were able to make this dream a reality.
The Mosinee Figure Skating Club welcomed the opportunity to have her be a special part of their annual recital “Under the Big Top,” welcoming her with a VIP backstage experience and a chance to meet some of the skaters before the show.
As the recital went on, the wonderment that was seen on Joan’s face and the many smiles shared between her and her daughter revealed that she had realized her dream.
A special thank you to the Mosinee Silverblades Figure Skating Club for making this DREAM possible and thank you to Second Wind Dreams partnering with us and inspiring us to help our residents experience their best days. Lastly, thank you to the Azura of Wausau team for all of their efforts in helping make this DREAM come true.
