Over 90% of nursing home residents with dementia demonstrate a behavioral disturbance at least once. Alzheimer’s disease and its challenging behaviors are a growing issue that we as a society can do more to address. For this reason, Azura Memory Care supports the Alzheimer’s Task Force on Challenging Behaviors and the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeastern Wisconsin in its efforts to find solutions. A summary of their work was recently released.
The Alzheimer’s Task Force on Challenging Behaviors brought together over a hundred people including: Cathy Kehoe, Cultural Training Director for Azura Memory Care; community members; caretakers; law enforcement workers; health care providers and policy makers.
The name of the report summarizing the work of Phase I of the Alzheimer’s Task Force on Challenging Behaviors is Handcuffed.
