Azura Memory Care is proud to be a statewide facilitator of the Second Wind Dreams Virtual Dementia Tour and is pleased to share two upcoming Tour events being provided this month at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, located at 1760 14th Street in Monroe on Monday, March 19th from 1- 3 PM and Monday, March 26th from 1-3 PM.
The community is invited to take a walk in the shoes of someone with dementia through the use of the internationally known Virtual Dementia Tour. The Virtual Dementia Tour is a 10 minute sensory experience that gives those with full cognition the ability to understand what the disease of dementia sounds, looks and feels like.
The Virtual Dementia Tour uses educational resources and sensory stimulation to provide family and professional caregivers a way to experience the challenges faced by those living with dementia. Created by Second Wind Dreams, the Virtual Dementia Tour is scientifically proven to increase knowledge and understanding of those caring for individuals with dementia.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with the Tour specialists and don patented devices that alter their senses. They are then given tasks and an adapted environment, which allows them to experience the physical and mental challenges those with dementia face every day.
This is a FREE community event, but attendees will need to RSVP by calling 608-325-9506 by Friday, March 16th (for Monday, March 19th Tour) and Friday, March 23rd (for Monday, March 26th Tour).
